PAINTING HOLIDAYS

Kalkan TURKEY

Kalkan is on the south-west, Mediterranean coast of Turkey and is Turkey's best kept secret-nestling as she does on the foothills of the rugged Toros mountains. Close your eyes, imagine what a mediterranean harbour should look like - white villas covered with bougainvillaea, winding cobbled streets, roof terrace and harbour bars and restaurants and you see Kalkan.

Kalkan is set in an area of Turkey steeped in history, right in the heart of the old Lycian region. There is a plethora of ancient sites in the near vicinity.

Kalkan is protected from 'mass tourism ', by its lack of obvious beaches- although the village has a pebble beach and some ' shelf-type' bathing areas. Luckily , and easily accessible, local beaches are stunning.
